Generators for the home

Sooner or later, every home is affected by a power outage, whether as a result of planned shutdowns or dangerous natural phenomena.
It is up to us whether we want to protect ourselves against such circumstances.

Certainly, a lot depends on the area we live in. Less populated areas with older, poorer infrastructure, are more likely to experience frequent or long-term difficulties with power supply. In hard-to-reach places, an ordinary branch falling on cables in the winter can mean a power outage for 24 hours or more.

AKMEL offers you a number of solutions to secure your home during power failures.

Naturally, the main method is power generators that use petrol, diesel or gas. Each of these types of engines has its advantages and disadvantages. Petrol versions are by far the cheapest, but require more expensive fuel. They are also the least durable, which matters if you want to use the generator all the time, not only as backup. Diesel engine models are much more durable and cheaper to operate than petrol ones, but their main disadvantage is much greater weight and noise level. The latter practically rules them out as equipment to be installed at home or close to home. They are also more expensive than petrol models. Gas engine versions are definitely the most expensive choice, however, they offer a combination of cheap fuel and low nuisance that can be compared to petrol generators.

Basic generators for households can be broken down into two groups:

- portable generators for occasional use, supplying selected receivers

- stationary generators, both open and enclosed versions, which power entire households

The first group includes typical aggregates kept in a garage or garden shed, adapted to work under a roof due to their open design susceptible to precipitation. Because of their limited power, these models are mainly used to supply selected receivers in buildings. Very often they are also intended for construction sites, they are great for power tools, lighting, etc., so they are worth considering as a good solution for the duration of construction, and then left at home as an emergency power supply.

The second type is equipment designed to power entire buildings or farms, which can work in an enclosed version under all conditions, allowing the user to minimise the work necessary to start the generator. The generator remains installed in one dedicated location, which eliminates the need to look for a good place to put the equipment. It is also possible to lay permanent wiring between the generator and the building, which saves us time. It should also be noted that an outdoor generator is another source of carbon monoxide placed outside the house.

For most of the generators listed above, we can offer you the automatic start function. During a power failure, the generator automatically detects this condition, activates and switches the power supply from the power plant to the generator. No user intervention is required for the entire process.

What are the advantages of such a solution?

1. firstly, safety of use, the less interference with electrical systems, the less cables lying on the floor, the more friendly and safe the whole process is, especially for the youngest household members

2. quick restoration of power supply, automatic start will restore electricity at home in just several seconds, compared to a manual or portable generator this saves from a few saving from a few to several minutes

3. the house is secured 24h a day, 7 days a week

The last type we would like to draw your attention to are gas generators. Gas generators have one major advantage. In theory, you will never run out of fuel in them. This greatly extends the last point of the benefits of automatic start. Direct connection to the gas network means continuous supply of the generator with fuel. Gas generators are also the most environmentally-friendly solution as they emit the least exhaust gas, and in the long term they are also most economical choice.

We offer products based on components of global leaders in the field of generators. Our generators are powered by engines from manufacturers such as Honda, Briggs&Stratton, Kohler, Lombardini, and General Motors. These in turn are driven by alternators from manufacturers such as Sincro, Mecc-Alte, NSM, and Leroy-Somer.
